Click Minerva in the menu bar or the tray and a small bar rises from the bottom of the screen, over whatever app is in front.

Search as you type
The best matches from your library appear as you type. Enter opens the one you picked, or runs the full search.

Ask the assistant
Switch to Ask and your question starts a new conversation in Minerva.

Import a link
Switch to Import and Minerva opens its import with what you typed, ready to go.

Keyboard first
Tab moves between Search, Ask and Import, and Esc puts the bar away.

Out of your way
A click elsewhere or a second click on the icon dismisses it. On Linux it opens from the tray menu.

The bar stays loaded in the background, so it opens the moment you click.
